Salary Range: $170,300 – $190,300

Position Overview

We’re on the lookout for a Chief Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you’ll serve as a key resource for our nursing staff, ensuring top-notch patient care and management. Working hand-in-hand with attending physicians, you’ll coordinate patient care within our specialty areas, adhere to clinical protocols, and foster collaborative healthcare team dynamics. Your contribution will not only elevate patient care but also include guiding nursing practices and ensuring compliance with clinical policies.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and manage a team of approximately 20 Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) and Registered Nurses (RNs).
- Oversee clinic coverage scheduling, ensuring the smooth operation of our APP clinics.
- Optimize the use of operating room time, coordinating schedules, and resources effectively.
- Provide ongoing clinical feedback to APPs, encouraging the development of their practices so that Neurosurgeons can focus on new patients.
- Help grow our team by recruiting new APPs and providing training for new staff.
- Collaborate with the Providers, Clinical Operations Administrator, Chief Administrative Officer, and Chair to meet our department’s performance metrics in practice efficiency, access, and operations.
Your Responsibilities Include:
- Setting short- and long-term operational goals and monitoring success, adapting as needed.
- Managing orientations for new hires and delivering in-service training on the latest nursing techniques and protocols.
- Ensuring all nursing staff maintain current licensure and certifications as per regulatory requirements.
- Implementing patient care models that maximize staff capabilities and expertise.
- Regularly assess service quality through feedback, surveys, and observations, using insights to enhance care strategies.
- Collaborate with the Quality and Patient Safety (QPS) team on clinical quality and safety initiatives, including infection control measures.
- Develop staffing strategies to ensure adequate coverage for scheduled and urgent cases.
- Engage in risk management related to clinical operations.
- Review and recommend delineation of privilege requests in line with regulations and practice scope.
- Work closely with physicians on the comprehensive medical needs of patients, ensuring continuity of care.
- Provide hands-on patient care services, including histories, vital signs, and administering medications.
- Assist in the outpatient/inpatient clinic during sessions under physician supervision, including writing prescriptions and triaging urgent issues.
- Fulfill standard NP responsibilities and scope of practice in clinical settings.
Qualifications:
- Education: Master’s of Science in Nursing.
- Experience: Approximately 6 years of extensive clinical practice, with a strong background in clinical leadership within an acute care environment.
- Preferred Qualifications: FNP certification and experience with change management or process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean/Six Sigma).

Licenses and Certifications:
- Active NYS Registered Nurse Practitioner (NP) license.

- National Board Certification (e.g., ANCC, PNCB).
- Current BLS and ACLS or PALS certifications (if applicable).
- Infection Control Certificate.
- Current Narcotics DEA registration.
