Job title: Senior .Net Developer
Company: City of New York
Job description:
Job Opportunity: .NET Developer (Financial Systems)
Join the New York City Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) and be part of an organization that is dedicated to uplifting communities and helping New Yorkers thrive. We invest in a vibrant network of community-based organizations and programs aimed at addressing poverty while empowering individuals and neighborhoods to reach their full potential.
As a .NET Developer in our Financial Systems team, you’ll play a vital role in the modernization of our financial management systems. Reporting to the Deputy Director of the Contracts/Financials Portfolio, you will help drive the development and deployment of our Budget, Contract, and Payment Systems. Your expertise will be crucial in refining business processes, fostering innovation, and breaking down any technical barriers that stand in the way of effective budgeting, contracting, and payment operations.
In this role, you won’t just be coding—you’ll be analyzing user specifications to deliver software solutions that truly meet the needs of our programs. You’ll have the chance to design, develop, test, and maintain a variety of software applications while also providing guidance to fellow developers, conducting code reviews, and ensuring that every line of code meets our high standards.
What You’ll Be Doing:
-
Transforming Financial Management: Spearhead efforts to modernize our financial management system and integrate it seamlessly with other operational systems like Case Management and Data Analytics.
-
Staying Ahead of the Curve: Keep your finger on the pulse of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices by engaging in conferences and continuous learning.
-
Juggling Projects: Utilize your problem-solving skills to independently manage multiple complex projects, ensuring that each one aligns with our organizational goals.
-
Database Design: Bring your strong skills in database design and development to create innovative solutions that enhance our service delivery.
-
Quality Assurance: Rigorously review programs before they launch to ensure they meet our IT guidelines and industry standards.
-
Setting Standards: Establish clear communication for developing systems within our financial systems group, ensuring that we maintain the highest technological standards.
- Compliance Focus: Make sure that our internal processes and client-facing applications are not just efficient but also compliant with relevant laws and community expectations regarding privacy and social responsibility.
Your Qualifications:
-
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college, coupled with at least 24 semester credits in computer science or a related field, plus two years of solid experience in software design, programming, debugging, and maintenance (with at least one year in a leadership role).
-
Alternatively, a high school diploma and six years of full-time software experience, with a minimum of one year in a leadership capacity or on a complex project can qualify as well.
-
We welcome a satisfactory combination of education and experience that aligns with the above criteria—where 60 college credits may substitute for one year of experience, and a master’s degree can replace one year of experience as well.
- It’s essential to characterize your prior roles clearly if you want them to count as leadership or significant contributions to projects. Note that experience in areas like technical support or quality assurance won’t meet our minimum requirements.
