The Role:
Our Franchise Administration and Broadband Division plays a crucial role in managing agreements with private telecommunication companies that utilize the City’s rights-of-way for delivering services throughout NYC. We strive to ensure that telecommunications solutions are deployed both efficiently and fairly. We also work closely with the External Partnerships Division to bolster the City’s digital equity and inclusion goals.
We’re on the lookout for an experienced Director of Franchise & Broadband Data and Analytics who will champion our mission to provide New Yorkers with the connectivity and resources necessary to thrive in an increasingly digital world.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Lead our efforts in broadband and digital equity by managing data analytics projects that directly influence OTI policy recommendations.
- Develop and execute data analysis initiatives to monitor programs like Big Apple Connect and LinkNYC, alongside various OTI franchise projects.
- Analyze a range of datasets to ensure New York City’s concerns and needs are front and center in local, state, and federal policymaking.
- Transform complex franchise-related data into clear, visually engaging reports for our leadership.
- Assist in designing and developing OTI’s franchise-related websites.
- Maintain robust data governance practices to guarantee quality, security, and compliance, particularly with Public Records Requests and Open Data submissions.
- Discover and implement tools that enhance our data analysis reporting processes.
- Supervise the OTI Franchise data team, guiding them through various projects and analytic endeavors.
- Set up and track key performance indicators that gauge the success of our data strategies and analytic initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with city agencies to plan and implement broadband initiatives.
- Undertake special projects and assignments as needed.
Work Environment:
Hours for this role are typically during the day, but due to the nature of our operations, you may occasionally need to be on call or work weekends and evenings.
