Job Description
Who We Are:
At Education Through Music (ETM), we believe in the transformative power of music education. As a non-profit organization based in New York City, we work hand-in-hand with local public schools to help reintroduce music programs and dedicated instructors to students. What sets us apart is our commitment to not only support teachers who may not be certified but to guide them through the process of enhancing their skills so they can eventually take on roles in city schools. Our reach is substantial – we proudly collaborate with 50 public schools across all five boroughs, bringing music education to over 18,000 children. We know that music enriches the educational experience, fostering social and emotional growth while promoting equity and achievement. If you’re a music enthusiast eager to make a positive impact in your community, we’d love to hear from you!
Your Role:
As part of our team, you’ll be at the heart of the school’s music program. Here’s what you can expect:
- Serve as a key member of the school’s music faculty, bringing your passion and expertise to inspire young minds.
- Collaboratively develop and coordinate engaging in-school music programs alongside our dedicated staff.
- Plan and execute two exhilarating school-wide concerts each year – an opportunity for students to showcase their talents and boost their confidence.
- Get involved in various school events, from assemblies to graduations, ensuring music has a prominent role in the school community.
- Create comprehensive lesson plans that evolve over time based on reflection and feedback.
- Continuously seek ways to enhance our processes and programs, ensuring we provide the best music education possible.

We appreciate your understanding and encourage qualified individuals to apply!
