The Role
Are you a tech-savvy problem-solver? We’re looking for a Business Intelligence (BI) Developer who will be a vital part of our efforts to innovate and enhance the technology that supports our Home Office, Regions, and Schools. You’ll be taking a deep dive into our organizational needs, helping us tackle challenges head-on with data-driven solutions. Working alongside a collaborative team of fellow developers and data experts, you will help convert complex data into meaningful insights through reports, data extracts, and analysis tools. Your Responsibilities
Product Management and Development:
- Dive into intricate datasets to uncover trends, patterns, and valuable insights.
- Transform instructional and operational data needs into engaging visualizations and tools.
- Create and maintain advanced reporting, analytics, and dashboards, mainly using Tableau, but don’t shy away from other platforms like Superset.
- Develop detailed interactive reports and user-friendly dashboards that aid in effective decision-making.
- Advocate for the most impactful ways to present statistical information, ensuring stakeholders are informed and engaged.
- Perform data validation, mapping, and design, pulling insights from a variety of source systems.
- Help shape the centralized data warehouse by providing application analysis and data modeling designs.
- Extract data for reporting and facilitate smooth communication across different data systems.
Data Governance:
- Set processes and standards ensuring our data’s quality, validity, and consistency.
- Standardize data collection methods by designing effective database structures and validation reports.
- Collaborate with data stewards to maintain data integrity and address any quality concerns.
- Maintain a comprehensive data catalog for tracking sources, definitions, and metadata.
- Promote transparency by facilitating data discovery across the organization.
- Partner with governance teams to align our BI practices with overall data management frameworks.
Subject Matter Expert and Stakeholder Liaison:
- Collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders to craft new, intricate visualizations tailored for various audiences.
- Help stakeholders navigate technical challenges within our databases, enabling them to prioritize investments for holistic solutions.
- Partner with instructional, operational, and regional teams to develop reporting solutions that meet diverse data needs.
- Foster collaboration by clarifying requirements and balancing competing priorities.
- Champion stakeholder goals, contributing to the future vision of organizational integration.
- Drive user adoption of new processes by crafting training materials and offering mentorship to end-users.
- Manage communication and change processes effectively, simplifying complex concepts for better decision-making.
- Lead the charge for any issues related to visualizations, providing solutions and guidance to the IT Support team.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree is required, ideally in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or a related field.
Experience:
- 5-6 years of professional experience with at least 3 years specifically in IT or Data roles.
- Proven expertise in Business Intelligence, especially in data-driven dashboard design and analytics.
- Proficient in coding with R, Python, and SQL.
- Hands-on experience with data visualization software such as Tableau or Superset.
- Familiarity with data modeling platforms like DBT is a plus.
- Previous experience in K-12 public education is highly valued.
Travel & Schedule:
- Expect to spend three days in our vibrant central office in downtown Manhattan. Occasional local travel to school sites in NY, NJ, and MA will be part of the role.

When it comes to salary for this position, candidates who meet the qualifications will likely receive an offer starting around $100,800, with a range of $95,200 to $112,000 depending on experience, education, and tenure. We recognize the importance of your expertise and work history.
