About the Role
We’re looking for a self-driven, motivated professional to join our growing New York City or Iselin, New Jersey team, focusing on supporting data center clients. This is an exciting entrepreneurial opportunity to play a significant role in one of the leading markets for data centers, helping shape spaces for data center REITs, colocation providers, and end-users alike.
As part of this role, you’ll be hands-on with every aspect of white space fit-out, including physical infrastructure, structured cabling, power distribution, space planning, and HVAC. You’ll primarily take on project management duties in a billable, professional services capacity, ensuring every project runs smoothly from start to finish.
- Location: Work will mainly focus on projects in NYC or Iselin, but you should be open to occasional travel—around 50%-70%—as we grow. Most travel will be within the Eastern US, and of course, travel expenses will be covered.
- Compensation: We offer a competitive salary between $125K to $150K (dependant on experience), alongside a comprehensive benefits package, paid training, and additional compensation opportunities.
Key Qualifications
- Experience: 3 to 7 years in data center facilities design and project management.
- Client Management: You should be adept at managing client expectations and maintaining project documentation concerning scope, budget, billing, schedules, and timelines.
- Hands-On Expertise: A strong understanding and experience with data center design and deployment, especially in power distribution and structured cabling, is crucial.
- Project Management: Experience in successfully managing mid-size data center build-outs or fit-outs in colocation facilities is a significant plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Design Familiarity: A strong grasp of design drawings, including plans, sections, and elevations.
- Networking: Established relationships with local vendors or data center REITs.
- Estimating Skills: The ability to estimate projects accurately and create compelling sales proposals with input from our corporate office and solution leads.
- Bid Competence: Familiarity with bid documents and contractor bid leveling is advantageous.
- Certifications: RCDD, BICSI DCDC, CDCDP, PMP, or any relevant Data Center Facilities Design certifications would be a great addition.
Responsibilities
- Oversee data center fit-out projects, collaborating with design experts to provide stellar on-site support from inception to final handover.
- Work alongside the team to estimate project costs and develop sales proposals for new business.
- Generate RFI and RFP documents for bid leveling and manage the comparison and analysis process.
- Create budgets and project plans during the analysis and design phases.
- Act as an on-site Project Manager advising clients and overseeing subcontractors to ensure all project goals are fulfilled.
- Keep clients informed and maintain project status documentation (scope, budget, billing, schedules, etc.).
- Review and approve all expenses associated with projects.
- Exhibit strong leadership—excellent communication, comprehensive understanding of project objectives, and a commitment to exceeding client expectations.
