Are you an innovative and technically savvy application developer with a passion for enhancing user experience through cutting-edge technology? The New York City Department for the Aging (DFTA) wants you on our team! We’re looking for someone who’s not just an expert in the Salesforce platform, but also loves to dive deep into development, management, and administration while bringing best practices to the table.
About the Role:
In this role, you’ll be the go-to person for maintaining and optimizing our Salesforce platform. You’ll leverage your expert knowledge of Salesforce APIs and management tools to craft, write, and rigorously test code designed to meet various project requirements. With a solid grasp of technologies like HTML and JavaScript, you’ll help us build responsive, fully functional sites for desktop, tablet, and mobile users.
Your ability to use object-oriented programming techniques will enable you to create clean, reusable code that adheres to industry standards and performs well under pressure. In essence, you will be responsible for the design, development, configuration, maintenance, and support of our applications.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- System Administration: You’ll oversee the Salesforce Lightning platform—ensuring it’s always running efficiently.
- Development Solutions: Dive deep into Apex programming, Lightning frameworks (both Aura and LWC), JavaScript, and various APIs to create custom integrations.
- Salesforce Administration: Engage with tasks such as creating custom objects, fields, workflows, validation rules, reports, dashboards, and more.
- Service Cloud Management: Manage the intricacies of our Service Cloud in a bustling environment, keeping user needs front and center.
- User Needs Assessment: Gather and translate user requirements into detailed specifications—attention to detail is key!
- Data Management: Use Salesforce tools like Data Loader and Workbench to execute data management tasks smoothly.
- SOQL Queries: Write and manipulate Salesforce Object Query Language (SOQL) queries when needed.
- Documentation: Keep technical specifications, design documents, and test cases up to date.
- Project Management: Guide the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and utilize Agile methodologies for successful project outcomes.
- Customer Support: Be the friendly face for user inquiries, troubleshooting issues, and enhancing the Salesforce experience.
Qualifications We’re Looking For:
- A master’s degree in computer science or a related field, along with three years of increasingly responsible experience in IT, especially in application and systems development, database administration, and networking. Importantly, at least 18 months of this experience should have been in a supervisory or managerial role; or
- A bachelor’s degree with four years of relevant experience as outlined above; or
- A high school diploma (or equivalent) with six years of progressively responsible IT experience, or
- A combination of education and experience equivalent to the above options, keeping in mind that all candidates must have at least a high school diploma and three years of related experience, including the managerial aspect.
(Please note that while a bachelor’s degree is preferred, we’re open to considering undergraduate and graduate credits as substitutes for time in the required IT experience.)
