As a teacher at WHIN, you will be responsible for:
- Creating a welcoming classroom environment where students love to engage and learn.
- Tailoring your teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of each student.
- Preparing students for future success—both in college and careers—through benchmark assessments.
- Designing and adapting curriculum and assessments to cater to various learning styles.
- Driving academic progress for all students by analyzing data and adjusting instructions as needed.
- Playing an active role in our Child Study Team to help assess student needs.
- Collaborating with fellow educators to deliver an effective curriculum.
- Inspiring students and colleagues to reach their highest potential.
- Building and maintaining meaningful relationships with WHIN families.
- Upholding school policies within your classroom.
- Participating in school functions, meetings, and events outside of regular hours.
- Embracing feedback and growth with enthusiasm during all professional development sessions.
Qualifications we’re looking for:
- Experience teaching at the middle school level in an urban setting.
- New York State or equivalent Education Teaching Certification, with coursework in elementary or science education.
- A proven track record in boosting student achievement.
- A strong belief that every student can excel at high levels.
- Commitment to working effectively with students and families alike.
- A knack for navigating the exciting challenges of a startup environment.
- The ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced school atmosphere.
- A good sense of humor and a generous spirit toward your colleagues!
Preferred Skills:
Advanced proficiency in one or more of the following is a plus:
- Bilingual ability (especially in Spanish).
- Music performance experience.
- Teaching credentials or experience in diverse educational practices.
- Familiarity with Project-Based and Inquiry-Based Learning.
- Expertise in approaches such as Responsive Classroom, Love & Logic, and Restorative Justice.
Compensation and Benefits:
We offer a competitive salary ranging from $62,000 to $100,000, depending on experience, along with a supportive and exciting work environment and opportunities for ongoing professional development.
