About Our Early Childhood Development Centers
Our Early Childhood Development Centers are dedicated to nurturing young minds. We provide free Early Head Start and Head Start services to families who need it most. Early Head Start serves children from ages six weeks to three years, using a Montessori approach that fosters school readiness through engaging, hands-on activities. Our focus is on nurturing cognitive, social, emotional, language, and physical development.
Your Role: Early Head Start Teacher
As an Early Head Start Teacher, you’ll lead a passionate team in crafting and executing developmentally appropriate activities that align with our Montessori curriculum. Your role is vital in helping children flourish—emotionally, socially, cognitively, and creatively. You’ll collaborate with your team to observe, document, and assess each child’s progress, ensuring that your approach is tailored to their unique needs. Adhering to the guidelines and policies of CCNS, ACS, DOH, DOE, and CACFP will be key, as will upholding standards of confidentiality in line with HIPAA.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Create a nurturing learning environment that embodies the Montessori philosophy, encouraging growth in all developmental areas.
- Use observations, conferences, and tracking to develop individualized lesson plans that meet each child’s needs.
- Ensure that daily routines—like napping, eating, and personal hygiene—are carried out respectfully and healthily, tailored to each child.
- Keep parents informed about their child’s progress and our program activities.
- Embrace additional responsibilities as they arise to support our mission.
What We’re Looking For:
- CDA required, along with a Study Plan (60 credits, including 24 in Education).
- Associate, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree preferred.
- N.Y.S. Initial/Professional Certification for Birth-2, with a degree in a related field preferred.
- At least one year of experience in a preschool or infant/toddler setting.
- Must commit to Montessori training if not already certified, ideally within your first year with us.
- An innate ability to nurture children from ages two months to 24 months.
- Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply, particularly those fluent in Spanish, Russian, Chinese, Korean, or Creole.
- Must be able to lift or move up to 30 pounds occasionally and be comfortable traveling across the five boroughs as needed.
