About the Cloud Billing Platform Team
As MongoDB’s Cloud business continues to grow, so does the importance of our Cloud Billing Platform team. This talented group plays a vital role by managing the measurement and billing for billions of dollars in usage across our expanding suite of products. It’s an exciting and dynamic challenge that requires top-notch technical skills to meet the needs of our rapidly growing customer base worldwide. Our engineers take pride in writing high-quality code, performing thorough testing, and engaging effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders across the company.
What You’ll Be Doing:
As a member of our team, you can expect to tackle a variety of responsibilities, including:
- Collecting and aggregating usage data from various internal and external services
- Calculating and generating daily customer invoices
- Continuously enhancing the customer experience
- Improving and scaling our backend systems
- Working with detailed usage data from key cloud providers (like AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud)
- Collaborating with our internal data lake to assist the Finance team’s analytics needs
- Integrating with internal systems to support our Sales, Marketing, and Accounting teams

In this position, you will:
- Independently design and execute projects
- Participate in product and architectural discussions
- Contribute to the codebase through your projects and conducting code reviews
- Identify ways to enhance our systems, tools, and processes continually
- Mentor and support junior engineers
- Cultivate an inclusive and respectful workplace, aligning with MongoDB’s Core Values
What You Bring to the Table:
To thrive in this role, you should have:
- Experience building and maintaining large-scale systems
- Knowledge of billing systems is a bonus
- At least 5 years of experience in developing robust, mission-critical distributed systems
- A solid understanding of the Java programming language, the JVM, and its ecosystem
- Experience working with both non-relational (like MongoDB) and relational databases at scale
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities
- Comfort in engaging with technical leaders, engineering experts, and non-technical stakeholders alike
How We Measure Success:
- Within 3 months: You’ll be well-versed in our developer tools, features, and team projects.
- By 6 months: You’ll be an active contributor to ongoing projects and help shape our future initiatives.
- After 12 months: You’ll be fully integrated into the team, driving key projects and contributing to our roadmap.
