About the Summer Journey Program:
We’re excited to launch programming in all five boroughs of NYC, with a focus on the Bronx, Staten Island, and Manhattan. We prioritize matching our staff with the grades and locations they prefer to ensure a fulfilling experience. While the Summer Journey Program is expected to kick off no earlier than June 30th and run for a duration of six weeks, you’ll have the chance to be part of a vibrant educational experience that meets Monday through Thursday. There will be mandatory in-person training the week of January 23rd to help you prepare.
Role Overview:
As a Summer Journey Teacher, you’ll bring your expertise in subjects such as literacy, mathematics, and STEM to small groups of K-12 students, primarily in grades K-7. Your role will be vital in delivering engaging lessons and inspiring students to be excited about learning. You’ll also have the opportunity to connect with parents, keeping them informed about their child’s progress and achievements.

Being a Supportive Advocate:
- Serve as a mentor and an encouraging presence for your students, helping them feel empowered and understood.
Creating Engaging Learning Experiences:
- Craft and tailor lesson plans using the resources we provide to meet students’ unique needs.
- Maximize classroom time by efficiently pacing lessons and differentiating instruction based on student needs.
- Develop a clear learning environment that connects lessons and facilitates understanding.
- Utilize data to inform your teaching and refine your approach.
Cultivating a Positive Classroom Atmosphere:
- Encourage critical thinking and intellectual curiosity while promoting a growth mindset among your students.
- Guide students in taking ownership of their learning journey with established routines that lead to success.
Enhancing Your Skills:
- Familiarize yourself with our proven curriculum designed to combat summer learning loss.
- Receive ongoing coaching to help elevate your teaching practice.
Documenting Progress:
- Keep accurate records that help us track student attendance and academic performance as well as manage educational materials effectively.

Qualifications:
We’re looking for an enthusiastic, positive teacher who meets the following criteria:
- A Bachelor’s Degree and experience in teaching.
- A strong belief in the potential of every child to learn and grow.
- Proficiency in using online platforms for records and communication.
- Compliance with all employment requirements and legal work status in the United States.
- Availability for the entire duration of the summer program, including in-person training during the week of June 23rd.
Compensation:
Hourly pay ranges from $43.00 to $48.00.
