Who We’re Looking For: Software Engineer 3 – Atlas Cluster Platform Team
We’re looking for a talented Software Engineer 3 to join our dynamic Atlas Cluster Platform Team. You’ll be instrumental in building and enhancing MongoDB Atlas, our rapidly growing database-as-a-service offering that allows users to deploy fault-tolerant and globally distributed MongoDB clusters effortlessly—often in just a few minutes!
As part of this team, your focus will be on developing software to manage the Atlas infrastructure on major cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, and GCP. You’ll have the opportunity to work on foundational services and features that underpin cluster operations, enable new configurations, and contribute to our service-oriented architecture.
Location: New York City (Hybrid Working Model)
Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Design and build new features for MongoDB Atlas.
- Take the lead on complex technical projects.
- Collaborate closely with product and design teams to ensure we keep the user’s perspective at the forefront of our technical solutions.
- Partner with customers and support engineers to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
- Work alongside team members to refine our codebase, develop best practices, and establish design principles.
- Share your knowledge and learn from your colleagues through mentorship.
Who You Are:
- You have at least 3 years of software development experience.
- You’re proficient in creating large-scale, distributed backend systems using a compiled language (Java, C#, Go, etc.).
- You feel comfortable navigating the full stack of modern web applications, including React, TypeScript, and Kubernetes.
- You have hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- You’re experienced in launching new features and maintaining them in production.
- You love tackling challenging problems and finding effective solutions.
- Your communication skills shine in both written and spoken forms.
- You’re curious, collaborative, and driven by a desire to learn and grow.
Success Metrics:
- Within 3 months, you’ll have contributed code to production and worked with the team to tackle complex challenges.
- By 6 months, you’ll have made significant contributions to a large project.
- After a year, you’ll have designed new features, led development efforts, and become a key expert on certain parts of our system.
