What You’ll Do:
As Director of Virtual Currency Applications, you’ll lead a dedicated team focused on reviewing applications for BitLicenses and Limited Purpose Trust Company licenses. Here’s a sneak peek of your responsibilities:

Team Leadership: Guide and manage a team responsible for evaluating applications for BitLicenses and Limited Purpose Trust Company licenses, ensuring we uphold high standards of compliance with laws and regulations.

Application Oversight: You’ll actively oversee the application process for these licenses, collaborating with your team to make sure applicants meet all necessary guidelines.

Policy Enhancement: Support the development and improvement of our internal policies and procedures related to the BitLicense and Limited Purpose Trust Company application process.

Resource Coordination: Work closely with the Virtual Currency and Limited Purpose Trust Company Deputies to track application statuses and help prioritize resources effectively.

Review and Feedback: Provide insightful analysis and constructive feedback on license and charter applications, from compliance with BSA/AML requirements to cybersecurity measures and financial plans.

Collaboration: Team up with our Licensed Financial Services unit on applications that seek dual licensing under both the BitLicense and money transmission frameworks.

Mentorship: Be a mentor and coach to your staff, fostering professional growth and development within your team.

High-risk Reviews: Collaborate with Specialty Teams to conduct necessary reviews and provide training and support to application staff.

Communication: Engage effectively with senior and executive management, preparing comprehensive analyses and recommendations on various issues related to applications.
- Other Duties: Assist with other responsibilities as they arise, ensuring the department runs smoothly.
Who You Are:
We’re looking for candidates who meet the following minimum qualifications:

Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in fields such as accounting, finance, business administration, or related fields.
- Experience: You should have at least eight years of experience in financial services, ideally with a regulated entity that has a regional, national, and/or international presence, or with a governmental regulatory body. This experience should include in-depth knowledge of financial services laws and regulations, with at least three years at a managerial level.
Bonus Points:
- A J.D. or a Master’s Degree can substitute for one year of specialized experience, and a Ph.D. can substitute for two years.

Salary: We offer a competitive starting salary of $141,509, increasing over time with periodic reviews, up to $170,993. If you’re in the New York City metropolitan area, as well as Suffolk, Nassau, Rockland, or Westchester Counties, you may also receive an additional $3,400 annually.

Appointment Status: This is a permanent position, contingent on approval from the Governor’s Appointment Office and Division of Budget.
