In this role, you will focus on building a comprehensive platform dedicated to Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs).
What You’ll Do:
- Create and implement a cutting-edge Generative AI platform, incorporating MLOps/LLMOps for both commercial and open-source LLMs.
- Align your work with our established cloud integration and automation patterns to ensure smooth operations.
- Spot opportunities for reuse and enhanced efficiency throughout the process.
- Collaborate with IT, business partners, product owners, and stakeholders to develop meaningful roadmaps, prioritizing the most impactful work.
- Champion Mastercard’s engineering principles as you contribute to our vibrant Software Engineering Guild, sharing your insights, experiences, and enthusiasm for technology.
- Drive metrics that spark meaningful change within the organization.
Who You Are:
- You have a thorough understanding of cloud platforms like AWS and Azure, including hands-on experience with AI and GenAI services such as AWS SageMaker, Bedrock, and Azure ML. You’re familiar with both commercial and open-source foundational models.
- You bring substantial experience in Generative AI LLM platforms covering aspects like model evaluation, API patterns, model governance, orchestration, and vector databases.
- You have worked with AI-related data platforms (i.e., DataBricks, IBM watsonx) and are familiar with GenAI code assistants like GitHub Copilot and AWS Code Whisperer.
- Your background in AI/ML encompasses data science and analytics, and you have experience in cloud security, especially in regulated industries.
- You hold a solid site reliability engineering mindset and are adept at creating resilient solutions across multiple layers.
- You’re skilled in automation and observability within cloud environments and can implement best practices in web service design.
- You have a strong grasp of Kubernetes, both self-managed and cloud provider solutions, and a proven history of delivering effective solutions in complex, multi-domain contexts.
- You communicate complex concepts with ease and mentor junior engineers through pair programming, code reviews, and design discussions.
- You’re passionate about driving the evolution from legacy to cloud-based solutions, equipped with strong organizational navigation skills.
- With experience in Agile/Scrum and traditional project management methodologies, you understand all phases of the software development lifecycle.
- You are well-versed in performance engineering practices and helping teams enhance productivity and release frequency.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and Java rounds out your technical toolkit.

Pay Ranges:
- New York City, NY: $166,000 – $265,000
- O’Fallon, MO: $138,000 – $221,000
