Our Manhattan-based education company is on the lookout for passionate individuals to teach after-school and weekend in-person SHSAT classes. If you love working with students and have a great sense of humor, we want to hear from you!
What You’ll Do:
As the driving force behind our SHSAT course, you’ll create an engaging and supportive atmosphere for students. Here’s what you can expect:
- Inspire students to embrace the curriculum while providing patient and affirming guidance.
- Lead intimate classroom sessions (8-25 students) focusing on ELA and Math instruction.
- Collaborate with a Teaching Assistant and/or Operations Associate to handle any classroom management issues.
- Communicate regularly with management to share insights on course progress, student behavior, and other essential matters.

What We’re Looking For:
We need someone who:
- Holds a bachelor’s degree from a reputable university or college.
- Has at least three years of post-grad teaching experience.
- Provides glowing references and can clear a background check.
- Excels in teaching both ELA and Math, specifically for the SHSAT.
- Is willing and able to travel within Manhattan for in-person classes.
- Is available for at least one of the following time slots:
- Sundays from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on the Upper East Side
- Mondays from 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM on the Upper East Side
- Tuesdays from 3:30 PM to 6:00 PM in Gramercy
- Tuesdays from 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM on the Upper East Side
- Thursdays from 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM on the Upper East Side
- Can commit to at least one full semester (late March to mid-June; mid-September to late October).
- Has access to a personal laptop or tablet (WiFi-enabled, capable of running Zoom, and with HDMI compatibility), along with a stylus similar to this: [insert example].
What You Bring to the Table:
We’re searching for someone who is not only dependable and organized but also relatable and engaging. Our ideal candidate can connect with students, making even the toughest topics accessible and enjoyable.
Bonus Points If You Have:
- Experience with other standardized tests like the SSAT, ISEE, ACT/SAT, or HSPT/TACHS.
- Knowledge in subjects that go beyond the SHSAT prep, including:
- Math: Algebra I & II, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, AP Calculus AB/BC
- ELA: Common Core Exams, general reading comprehension, essay writing, AP Language, AP Literature
- Science: AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Physics
